Restorative dentistry has a lot of good news to report over the last twenty years. First, the American Dental Association reports that the need for these procedures has decreased by half since 2001, from 22% of all dental treatments down to 11%. The credit for this improvement goes not only to better at-home products and routines but also to improved technology that makes dental restorations much more effective.
We are proud to be at the forefront of these advancements. But we also know that our treatments can improve even more, which is why Dr. Glass, Dr. Edgar, and their team are committed to the highest quality dental restorations and repairs. We are delighted to offer the best services to our patients in Spring, TX, and our nearby neighbors in Klein, Cypress, Tomball, The Woodlands, and Magnolia.
The simple definition is that restorative dentistry concentrates on tooth repair and replacement. The procedures that fall under the repair side are:
Those that focus on teeth replacement are:
One advantage of seeking care at Advanced Dental of Spring is that we can combine these options through a tailor-made plan for your smile.
Dental decay results from unchecked bacterial growth on your teeth. Over time, this erodes your enamel, creating little pits that eventually become dental cavities. While this condition may start small, cavities grow and become more significant problems as their size increases. The best thing to do is treat them with a dental filling.
Remember: cavities can be an invisible threat with few early symptoms. As your general dentist, we aim to detect cavities in their earliest stages during a routine check-up. Because cavities can threaten your entire tooth, we want to eliminate them immediately.
Unfilled cavities and other tooth damage may allow bacteria into your inner tooth, infecting your living tooth pulp, the soft tissue inside every tooth. When that infection reaches a certain point, root canal therapy is the only way to remove it. This procedure saves a tooth before we’re forced to remove it.
Though root canals get a bad rap for being painful, we are dedicated to showing how it relieves pain. First, we use highly effective rotary endodontics to remove infection more quickly, comfortably, and effectively. Then we seal your inner tooth and protect it with a dental crown.
We can restore a damaged tooth more quickly than ever with our same-day dental crown process. While most dentists order crowns from an outside dental lab, forcing weeks-long wait times, Dr. Glass and Dr. Edgar can design and produce your permanent restoration in one appointment.
Another area in your mouth that might need restoration is your gums. The tissue that holds your teeth in place can degrade significantly if they suffer infection from plaque-causing bacteria. In addition, therapy to treat and repair gum tissue can be uncomfortable and invasive using traditional methods. At our dental office, we have eliminated those problems by introducing laser therapy for gums.
With this machine, we can more precisely target infected tissue, removing it quickly and with less damage to healthy surrounding oral tissues. But like cavities, gum disease is best treated early because we can completely reverse it when small.
The team at Advanced Dentistry of Spring knows that tooth damage happens. Our mission is to catch that damage even before it happens and to treat it when it does appear.

We offer sedation as one method to address dental anxiety. At Advanced Dentistry of Spring, we understand that each patient has a different history informed by their personal experience, and we intend to meet you where you are. So, in addition to a calming environment and other techniques to mitigate discomfort, we provide several options that may assist you.
The first is intravenous (IV) sedation. We call this method "twilight" sedation, and it will ensure a completely relaxed dental visit because you won't be alert to any procedures. In fact, we can often handle numerous treatments in one visit because you can remain in the treatment chair longer with fewer obstacles.
We work with an on-site board-certified anesthesiologist who monitors IV sedation. This gives us complete control over your comfort level and allows Dr. Glass to concentrate on providing the best possible treatment outcomes.
We also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas). With this method, you inhale a mild sedative gas through a mask that we monitor for the proper level of awareness. This keeps you relaxed during procedures, but you can still respond to instructions.
This option is ideal because it has few side effects; the impacts of the gas clear up quickly when we stop administering it. After a few moments, you will feel mostly normal and ready to resume your day with completed dentistry and a healthier smile.
